HOTLANTA YOGA

WELCOME TO HOTLANTA

While I was in atlanta this past month, I made time to make it to a yoga class! And boy was it so hard! I took a shuttle and made my way to hotlanta yoga. It was another vinyasa class, but it centered around a strong workout built for "Athletes" and more advanced yogis. This gorgeous brick and wood studio was located on edgewood in atlanta. There was a bright mural and open windows made for a perfect mid-morning flow. If there's one thing that I love, it's getting the opportunities to change up the scenery and learn more techniques. This studio was an amazing space!

Our instructor, rosalyn floyd, was transformative and so awesome. She worked us to the bone, it was a solid session from start to finish.

So the key components of the class are:

  • Ab work, increased heart rate and temperature

  • Core exercises

  • Balancing poses

  • Increasing strength, agility, and flexibility

I learned how to improve my warrior I, ii, and iii as well. I loved her intensity and passion, she had so much heart. During the class, my goal was to keep a strong body and keep up! It's been a while since I've taken a class like that!

I took examples from her practice and learned tips on flowing and sequencing for my own classes. That's sort of the beauty of travel, it's the knowledge we gain from others. I feel so grateful to have had the chance to challenge my practice and grow from it.

If you find yourself in atlanta and you're looking for a challenging class, please go to hotlanta. They also offer other classes: yoga basics, handstand squad, variations on vinyasa, yoga bootcamp, and cyclebloc!

Warning: too much hotlanta makes you hot!

CHROME YELLOW TRADING CO.

Before class, I usually need some heat on my digestion system and esophagus. I love to drink tea before a long class so that I can warm my body and soothe the inflammation that may be lingering from the night before. (I do have acid reflux sometimes.) so tea time is me time!

Just two blocks away, chrome yellow trading co.Is located on edgewood with locals coming in and out on a lazy saturday morning. It's a cute coffee and dry goods shop born and built by a husband and wife duo. The mission was to create a space for people to gather, work, and enjoy their mornings. Inside, there's space for commerce. You'll find shirts, writing journals, pencil bags, writing utensils, etc. Plus, I love looking at all the baked goods! (but declined to try it since I was getting ready to take my yoga class.) I ordered the jasmine tea of course!

WHAT I ATE TO GET MY VITAMINS IN

ONE WAY I LIKE TO GET MY NUTRIENTS ON TRIPS IS TO GET IN GOOD CARBS AND PROTEINS. LUCKILY I FOUND FISH BOWL POKE IN DOWNTOWN ATLANTA ON MY FIRST DAY. I HAD BROWN RICE, SALMON POKE, SEAWEED, GINGER, JALAPENO, AND CRAB MEAT.

ON THE LAST DAY, I ATE AT THUMBS UP DINER. I LOVE MY EGGS AND SALMON! IT ALWAYS TIES ME OVER WHEN I'M DOING LOTS OF WALKING AND SIGHTSEEING. I HAD RED ONION, A SCRAMBLE, NOVA LOX (SALMON), TOMATOES, AND VEGGIE SAUSAGE! SO INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS. THIS SPOT IS CASH ONLY SO COME HUNGRY!
