SUMMER CAN'T HAVE ALL THE FUN

Let's be honest, we all want to keep a summer glow year round. But I believe that your glow is more than a good tan and shimmering lotion. It truly comes from within and from a consistent regimen. How we take care of our skin, nails, teeth, and hair is very important.

As a yoga instructor, I love to take care of my body as each season passes. It's part of the self-care routine that we all deserve. And it helps me de-stress and relax after a crazy week. I believe it's so important to feel good about yourself.

Find your go-to products that match your dermal needs by trying out what works for your skin, test it and observe the properties. When building a skincare regimen, not every product has to be pricy. I suggest buying travel size or samples before buying bulk. Once you know what works, get two main products to really  invest in, then a few that are more cost-effective. This way, you'll have a little of both without breaking bank.

As my beauty page grows, I hope to provide seasonal information on what's working and continue to report back to you on some of the latest products. P.S. All photos were taken by me! I have so much fun editing, I hope you enjoy :)

Here's my list of winter products that I currently use to keep my winter glow.

OUAI WAVE SPRAY

Ouai first came out in 2016 by celebrity hair stylist, jen atkin. For a girl like me, I've got a combination of textures, so it's a mix of wavy / straight. It can also get really flat (I plan to do a chop in 2018 and create tons of layers!) so to keep my hair defined and smelling fresh, I use the ouai wave spray. It gives you that "Effortlessly chic" style without weighing it down.

Style tip: I spray 3-4 pumps after curling my hair with a straightener. Then separating the front pieces, I give it another spritz to complete the look. The 5 oz is $28 and the 1.7 oz is $12. I use the travel size - not bad!

GOURMAND LIP BALM

I recently discovered the gourmand brandvia urban outfitters. I puchased this lip balm for the winter because I was quite curious about the matcha flavor. The texture is soft but subtle so it's not very heavy. I love the packaging, simple and chic! It's great for the winter and your bedtime routine. The other colors are lait de coco and macaron rose!

If you go to their site, you can purchase one for just $4 so they make great gifts and they're perfect for your purse or makeup bag. Gourmand also makes fragrances, candles, body cremes, and oil.

Style tip: if you're all out of cuticle cream, this works just as well. Especially for those emergency encounters when you need to keep those finger tips looking fresh!

JOSIE MARAN ARGAN OIL

Josie maran 100% argan oil is my preferred facial oil. I first started using this product from a seasonal trip to sephora when I got a sample. I love how I can massage it into the skin without feeling oily. I do a face massage technique (more on that this coming year) and it feels so relaxing. You can get a travel size .5 oz for $16. It lasts a long time if you use just a few drops 2-3 times a week.

Style tip: for a dewy makeup look, I use it as my primer! It gives you that naturally gorgeous glow. Wear it sans makeup too.

BOURJOIS DRY BODY OIL

I hope to do a full suncare post prior to summer so stay tuned. In the meantime, let me tell you how to keep a really good bronzy glow. I am really big about keeping my skin healthy, moisturized and quite tan. As an african american and filipino woman, I have a medium to dark skin tone depending on the season. So I've really learned to love my complexion by giving it the self care and love it deserves. I believe that when you love your own body, you become more attractive!

For about two years I had my eye on the bourjois sunlight elixir tinted dry body oil each time I'd go on my ebay account. Ebay is a great place to sample!  I finally gave in a decided to try it. It's got these golden shimmers that reflect well on dark skin. So you'll want to use a body scrub in the shower then moisturize very well before you apply the spray. It comes out in a nice shiny formula that you need to rub in so just spray a little on your shoulders, chest, and neck and back. I can't wait to use it on my legs and tummy in the summer. It's got spf 15 as well!

Style tip: for a super sleek pony tail or bun, spray a little into your palms and smooth out your edges or as a finishing spray to create a glass finish!

ROSE PETAL BATH SALT

So I decided to include this amazing salt soak because I love to take a hot bath in the dead of winter. It's very fragrant and smells like pure potent roses. What I love most are the dry flower petals that really look beautiful in the bathtub. When I've completely soaked, it helps my muscles and make my skin super smooth. Salt is very good for healing aching joints and muscles, so after a yoga sesh, this is my go-to! It's also a great way to prep the skin for a good scrub!

I found this jar at urban outfitters but you can find a similar one at foxie bomb cosmetics. You can purchase products after the new year.

Style tip: put a few teaspoons into a 2 travel size containers so that you have a pre-measured dose of relaxation! Just pop it into your bathtub when you get to your hotel or airbnb and wind down.

MORPHE COSMETICS GOLD PALETTE

Last but not least is the morphe 35r - ready, set, gold! Palette. A good winter glow wouldn't be complete without those pretty coppers and golds! Below I did some swatches to show you my favorite shadows from this palette.  I love to use a good nude (swatch 1) on the lids and right underneath the lower lashes. Then I place a gold shadow (swatch 4) on the inner tear ducts.

Style tip: what I love is that you can use this palette for contouring and highlighting. I love the copper on my cheekbones and I use the darker shadows for the temples and forehead.
