Texture Over Trends | Winter Wardrobe Staples

TEXTURE OVER TRENDS

this season, i’ve picked some staple pieces that can be styled for various looks throughout the winter months. when i dress myself, it’s truly a process for me, it’s about creating a feeling. i like to consider a variety of elements at the start of every season + build the wardrobe from that inspiration.

right now, i’m loving 3 things: satin, faux leather, and streetwear.

the difference in each fabric + feel is key. for me, i prefer to invest in texture over trend, so that i can style my wardrobe around that focal piece. whether it’s animal print, velvet, or jacquard, you can always dress it up or down depending on the event. this is one of the best ways to re-use or incorporate past pieces.

we all know the winter season calls for black tie christmas parties, the sparkle of new year’s eve, or even a night out for italian! during the holidays, it can be hard to stick to a budget because so many sales are going on! in order to cut down on over-spending, you’ll want to focus on buying the most essential items in the most fitting textures. you don’t need three velvet leggings or four different sparkly crop tops. one is enough!

once you have your favorite piece, dress it up or down. i love to put a satin bralette over a turtleneck. i love to wear streetwear with a pair of professional trousers! really mix it up and make it work.

save or screenshot my guide to figuring out which textures look best on which pieces. this will help you create a personal style unique to you!
