JUNGLEPRINTS: FLORA Y FAUNA

SUMMER'S OVER, LET'S RECAP

For a while there, I was really stuck on those jungle and floral prints. I think of wild thoughts as our summer anthem, keeping us in a very spanish guitar kind of mood. This summer was so busy for me, teaching classes, working full time, and brainstorming. But I always make time for what I love.

I had a chance to explore some new styles and accessories this season. My look kept evolving, I must say that harem pants and high-waisted trousers were my go-to! And on a side note, I super loved those big bold statement earrings. Etsy has tons of pieces inspired by tribal and island culture. I love supporting small businesses because when they design their product, there's some history and heart behind it.

All summer I looked for woven earrings and bracelets, most of the ones I discovered are made by african business owners and designers. I saw major stores like zara and asos emulating the trends. But nevertheless, it's so unique and very me. Fall is also just upon us so I've been finding ways to re-vamp my seasonal hanger. I found some cute and inexpensive ways to do this!

I love to find one-of-a-kind items that are rare and beautiful. So over the summer, I spent a lot of time looking through online thrift stores and small boutiques, just studying lines and patterns and colors. I think that's my favorite part of putting a look together.

I don't care what season it is, I want everything to be reworked or redone, completely engaging to the eye. I love little details that make a piece more personal. CRANES IN THE SKY

Has anyone seen that episode from portlandia where they keep saying, "Put a bird on it." they keep putting them on everything in this novelty store: bags, lamps, pillows, etc. It's like if you put a bird print on any item, the cuteness value goes up.

Well it turns out, that's true. Cranes are my favorite. I have this little diy project I'm working on, but in the meantime, if you want to add some tszuj to your fall wardrobe, find pieces with this super cute bird detailing! All you have to do is iron it on to the back of jacket or on a scarf, and you're done!
