My Current Yoga + Workout Apps

Hey you guys! I know you all are getting your new year's off in the right direction. If not, then I have some really cool apps for you to try. They're really great motivators when you need a new fitness kick. I know it can be really hard to get back on the wagon after the holidays but it's really important to keep yourself accountable during these winter months. Spring is right around the corner, so use that warm weather as motivation to get you going!

BIKRAM YOGA

This is my absolute cant-live-without app. I use it to plan ahead when I need to get my hot yoga fix. Bikram is my personal yoga practice, outside of my own teaching schedule. So as an instructor, it's really important for me to continue my own yoga journey and to not lose the momentum. This year, I'm celebrating my hot yoga birthday, 6 years ago this month, I took my first class!

NIKE TRAINING CLUB

This is my second favorite app! I discovered the ntc app last summer when I would follow the nike events on facebook. Shortly after I realized I could sign up for classes and test the new nikes during my workouts! It was completely free and a great calorie burner! The nike app also hosts a ton of featured workouts which allow you to tailor your routine according to your goal.

They always add new series and you can browse workouts by muscle group, type, or athlete! Short workouts can range from 6 to 20 minutes. Target the abs, butt, core, or do drills and body strengtheners. You can also try workouts from athletes like kyrie irving, simone biles, and gabby douglas! And yes, there's even one from michael b. Jordan so get on it!

24 HOUR FITNESS

This is an easy app to use if you're a gym rat that goes to 24! Whatever gym you membership you have, always use their app to stay up to date. Class information is great to have on the go. It also helps me plan private sessions when I want to use the studio space, so it's great for yoga instructors.

I can also access fit perks which allows you to earn points towards sweepstakes and other prizes. The 24 app also lets me track goals, get access to daily burn content, and find deals on fitness products such as proteins and bars.

BUTT WORKOUTS

Of course I gotta have a good app for glute workouts! Ya'll already know! So I mainly use this app when I don't go to the gym and just want to get some ideas from home. The app targets those muscle points and gives you timed instructionals, so all you have to do is follow along. It's perfect for travel as well, especially if you can't get to a gym. Workouts last between 7 and 15 minutes so it's quick and easy. Another similar app is sworkit, it targets the abs and core!

CALM

I love this app so much! It's perfect for anyone who needs to de-stress during the day. The meditation sessions focus on various areas of mental and physical wellness. You can work on reducing anxiety, improving your sleep cycle, increase focus, reduce stess, balance emotions, or  cultivate healthy relationships.

My favorite meditation is the 21 days of calm! It starts you off with a 14 minute meditation. I know it can be really hard to try this practice, but the best way to start is by having no expectation!

You can also practice guided breath meditations, relax to hour-long musical compositions designed to calm the body, tune into scenery sounds, or listen to sleep stories for a deeper sleep! Try it out for yourself!

WORKOUT: GYM EXERCISE PLANNER

Have you ever gone to the gym and wondered how to use the machines? If you're just starting out at the gym or trying to workout on your own, then this app is great! You'll learn so much about muscle targeting. For me, understanding anatomy is really important in my field so I always utilize any resources that will help me customize my routine. This is a great simplified version of how to get toned!
