In Honor of the Women's March on Washington

I would like to take the time to send a positive message to all of the women in the world and all of the sister marches that have taken place worldwide. The Women's March on Washington is a grassroots effort, it's joint communities and individuals who stand together to protect the rights of women and those marginalized. Shout out to Tokyo, Sydney, Nairobi, Paris, Berlin, Cape Town, and Bogotá. I stand to support the fight to protect human rights, health, safety, freedom to express, and social/economic equality. Although I was not able to attend the Dallas March, I'd like to show my support with this post! Without strong women like Gloria Steinem, Angela Davis, Coretta Scott King, and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, we would not be where we are today. We've still got progress to make, but I am proud to follow in the footsteps of such brave heroines and leaders.

This post is for anyone out there, any girl in the world who has ever been afraid to pursue their dreams because of any form of inequality they have been up against. I read from a friend last week, "Men of quality are not afraid of equality." It's important that we teach our young girls and women to stand up for themselves, to become an independent thinker. We have a choice in how we want to be treated and I think empowerment is key to giving us a voice, to speak up in dark times. Do not let anyone tell you how to live your life. Life is too short to be silent about our quality of life.
