Nature X Wild Thing Pose

“The Great Spirit is in all things: he is in the air we breathe. The Great Spirit is our Father, but the Earth is our Mother. She nourishes us; that which we put into the ground she returns to us.

— Big Thunder (Bedagi) Wabanaki Algonquin

I sometimes love to get away and be in nature to practice poses. It gives me a sense of true relaxation and creativity. I really enjoy my time outside my normal schedule where I can clear my head and be free. The BBC reported in a study by The University of Derby and The Wildlife Trusts, that "for people suffering from physical illness or mental health disorders, such as depression and anxiety, interacting with nature can help people control their symptoms or even recover, alongside conventional medication."

I think nature brings us a natural "cure" to some of our own self-defeating habits or thoughts. I encourage everyone to get outside and play. Go to the park, take a walk, fly a kite! Just don't stay still all the time. "Yes you are in control of all of your perceptions and the beauty you compose. Take back the mind." Or just listen to Oshun.

I recently tried a new pose called Wild Thing. It involves a little bit of side plank, then my left leg is extended while my right arm opens up to the sky. It's liberating! But it was a challenge for me to balance. I hope my fellow yogis will try it! Nature is great for your overall well-being and happiness. Keep exploring, be curious, be happy!

I love to be silly and goofy too. These last two photos are just me playing around with my friend/photography Danny. I am so awkward at times but hey, the point is, you have to try new things keep towing the line to find your creativity and inspiration.
