Announcing My New Yoga Fitness Video Series! Plus a FREE GIVEAWAY!

Since the quarantine is coming to an end, I’m still working remotely, studying, writing and reading each day. I’ve continued to transform my goals by creating a vision for myself and my wellness career. I wanted to continue to offer great content to my readers and fellow yogis and wellness lovers. So last week, I was thrilled to announce a brand new yoga fitness video series on my IG called LIFEONAMAT YOGA SERIES!

This is a series where you can find all of my wellness, yoga and fitness in one place. I wanted to create an outlet where I could combine my love for both yoga and science-backed lifestyle tips to help you build better habits and intentions everyday. By knowing WHY we want to make changes and learning HOW the body ignites the change, we are then connected to WHAT we want to change.

The idea began over the last few months, when I started discussing science-backed wellness topics in my stories every week. Some of you have engaged in conversations with me on topics like epigenetics, ancestral trauma, meditation, fun brain facts and the mind-body connection. It felt so awesome to be able to use this time to study and exchange info amongst one another. I aspired to be like the Bill Nye of Yoga! For a long time, I wasn’t really sure which platform to use for yoga and wellness videos. Plus, I have resisted this for many years lol but I guess you could say that all that conversation boosted my confidence.

I knew that I needed to step it up and put my work and skillsets front and center. Currently, all of my yoga sequences are photographed with instructional guides which are listed here on my website. But I knew that at some point I would need to get past my own doubts and just go for it! Friends and fam, I’m late to the party but I made it! Youtube isn’t my realm just yet but IG is more fitting for the type of content I want to create this year.

All of my yoga, science and wellness videos will be posted under my LIFEONAMAT YOGA SERIES. I’ll still share photographed sequences on my website from time to time, but I needed to move on from that approach to reach new audiences. All videos and wellness content will always be posted to lifeonamat.com - the website is here to stay.

So the good news is that these classes will be under 15 minutes! The bad news is that these classes will be under 15 minutes! Therefore, I’ll do my best to jam pack the essentials. There’s no music on my first class - Strengthen & Lengthen 10 Minute Flow- but there will be in the future! I’m focusing on engaging and strengthening the upper body and lengthening out the physiques.

With this being my first video, I need to shed light on the fact that so many people in my community have lacked access to mental health care and fitness resources. My mission since Day 1 has always revolved around serving my communities. From all of the recreation centers to wellness gatherings, from the apartment buildings to the small workshops I’ve taught at, I have met so many wonderful people within the last 4 years because this is truly what brings me the most joy. This is what fulfills and fuels my soul. Let’s rise together in mindfulness and continue to participate in a system that creates equality, equanimity and wellness for everyone. This flow is dedicated to #BLACKLIVESMATTER, George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. 🤎

TIME FOR A FREE GIVEAWAY!

As a way to continue to give back to the movement, I have designed a crisis calendar for anyone to use during a time of turmoil or when you need to focus only on vital tasks within a week. It’s called “Just the Essentials: A Weekly Wellness Planner”. A while back, I put out a poll and most of you wanted a weekly planner versus a daily planner so that’s exactly what I created. This planner includes a built-in wellness feature designed to serve as a little reminders to get you moving, meditating and engaging in healthy habits.

The first section of the planner is where you will set an intention - so I’ve created space for that! The left side bar will help you remember to get your yoga, mindfulness and fitness in. Each day you’ll list one thing your grateful for - studies show that overall happiness improves when you implement gratitude each morning. The next section is for meetings and reminders because we’ll still need to remember important dates, doctor appointments, etc. Because I am a writer and must write everything down, the planner also has space for a weekly to do list. However, there are only 10 lines because I want you to prioritize by releasing the non-essentials, whatever is unimportant - it can wait! That’s part of living a balanced life - realizing that not everything needs to get done asap. You’ll also be able to put a check mark on the day(s) in which you complete the task so that you don’t feel confined to finishing everything in one day. Sundays can be our rest days! There’s also space for critical expenses - to keep you mindful about what you need to save for. The essential grocery list is a small space for just the items you need. For me it’s tofu, salmon, salad, turkey bacon, oatmeal, almond milk, veggies and fruits! Lastly, water intake - I’ve included 7 circles to color in each day so that you remember to drink enough water! I hope that this planner helps you during challenging times or when you feel you need to stick to simple, healthy habits. Eventually, these habits will create momentum in your mind-body connection and will boost your overall happiness and fulfillment. You can download this planner anytime, just feel free to let me know how it works out for you!
